GDL Parking Is Straightforward — Once You Know Which Lot to Use and When
Airport parking guides tend to be either impossibly vague or hopelessly out of date. I've tried to make this one neither. What follows is based on personally walking every lot at GDL, testing the shuttle frequency, checking the covered vs. open-air options, and talking to the lot attendants about what actually fills up and when.
The decision tree is simpler than people think: if you're parking for less than six hours, pay the premium for Lot A — the two-minute covered walk is worth every peso over the alternatives. If you're parking for more than five days, don't even look at the on-site lots; the off-site Park & Fly facilities save you serious money for trips longer than a long weekend. For everything in between, Lot B or C is the sweet spot.
One thing I see people consistently miss: the first 30 minutes are free in every on-site lot. If you're just picking someone up, you can park properly, walk in, grab their luggage, and get back to the car — all within the free window if you move efficiently. Also, paying with cash at the exit booth avoids the 3% card surcharge some lots quietly add. Small things, but they add up over a year of travel.

Elena's Parking Picks
— the right lot for each trip type, from our senior editorLot A — Terminal-Adjacent Covered
2-minute walk · Directly Opposite Terminal Entrance
Yes, it's the most expensive on-site lot at 350 MXN/day. But for anything under 6 hours — a pick-up run, a short business trip — the two-minute covered walk is genuinely worth the price premium. No shuttle wait, no wet luggage, no stress.
Park & Fly Off-Site
5–10 min from Airport · Free Shuttle Included
For trips of 5 days or more, off-site Park & Fly facilities cut your daily rate to 80–120 MXN — less than a third of Lot A. ParkingGDL and AeroEstacionamiento both offer 24/7 security, covered spaces, and free shuttle pickup. Book online to lock in the lowest rate.
Time Your Exit — First 30 Min Free
All On-Site Lots · Pay at Exit Booth
Every on-site lot at GDL gives you the first 30 minutes for free. If you're picking someone up, circle the terminal once, then park. You'll almost always be in and out within the free window. Also: exiting just before your 24-hour mark avoids paying for a second full day.
When GDL Lots Fill Up — Seasonal Planning Guide
Peak seasons to pre-book
Christmas & New Year (Dec 20–Jan 5), Semana Santa (Easter week), and mid-July through mid-August regularly see Lots A and B reach full capacity by early morning. Book online at least 5 days in advance to guarantee a spot.
If the lot shows "Completo"
Don't panic. Lots D and E have the largest capacity and rarely fill up even in peak season. Alternatively, Park & Fly off-site facilities always hold reserved spots — call ahead or book via their websites if you see on-site signs showing full.
Long weekend tip
Three-day Mexican holiday weekends (Día de Muertos, Día de la Independencia, etc.) catch travelers off-guard. On-site lots fill by 8 AM on Friday departures. Plan to arrive 20 extra minutes early to account for shuttle wait times at economy lots.

GDL Airport Parking Guide
Everything you need to know about parking at Guadalajara Airport
Choosing the right parking lot at GDL Airport can save you both time and money. For short trips under 6 hours, Lot A is your best bet — it's the closest to the terminal entrance, just a 2-minute walk, and offers covered protection from Guadalajara's intense sun and occasional rain. While it's the most expensive option at 350 MXN per day, the convenience is worth it if you're picking up arriving passengers or making a quick business trip.
For trips lasting 1–3 days, consider Lot B or C. Both offer a good balance of proximity and price. Lot B is covered and sits just 3 minutes from the terminal, making it ideal for weekend getaways. At 280 MXN per day, it's 70 pesos cheaper than Lot A but still provides weather protection. Lot C is open-air but costs only 200 MXN daily — a smart choice if you're traveling during Guadalajara's dry season (November through April) when rain is rare.
Long-term travelers flying for a week or more should head straight to Lot D or E. These economy lots are designed for extended stays, with weekly rates as low as 980 MXN (Lot E) — that's just 140 pesos per day, less than half the cost of premium lots. Yes, you'll walk 8–10 minutes to the terminal, but free shuttle buses run every 15 minutes during peak hours. Pro tip: arrive 20 minutes earlier than usual to account for shuttle wait time, especially during morning rush (6–9 AM) and evening peaks (5–8 PM).
The Park & Fly option is a hidden gem for savvy travelers. Several off-site parking facilities located 5–10 minutes from the airport offer rates as low as 80–120 MXN per day, with free shuttle service included. Companies like ParkingGDL and AeroEstacionamiento provide 24/7 security, covered parking, and even car wash services while you're away. Book online in advance to lock in the best rates — walk-up prices can be 30–40% higher. This option is perfect for trips longer than 5 days when on-site parking costs start to add up.
What if the lot is full? During peak travel seasons (Christmas, Easter, summer vacation in July–August), on-site lots can reach capacity, especially Lots A and B. If you arrive and see "COMPLETO" (full) signs, don't panic. Head to Lot D or E — they have the largest capacity and rarely fill up. Alternatively, use the Park & Fly facilities, which always reserve space for last-minute arrivals. For absolute peace of mind during holiday periods, consider pre-booking a guaranteed spot through the airport's official website or calling +52 33 3688 5248 to reserve in advance.
Money-saving insider tips: All lots offer the first 30 minutes free — perfect for quick pick-ups if you time it right. If you're staying just under 24 hours, try to exit before your 24-hour mark to avoid paying for a second day. Lost your ticket? There's a flat fee of 500 MXN, so keep it safe. Finally, pay with cash (Mexican pesos) at the exit booth to avoid the 3% credit card processing fee that some lots charge.
